The replacement of excavator gear oil is ignored by many owners and operators. In fact, the replacement of gear oil is relatively simple. The following explains the replacement steps in detail.
1. The hazards of lacking for gear oil
The inside of the gearbox is composed of multiple sets of gears, and frequent contacting between gears and bearings, gears and gears will be damaged due to the lack of lubricating oil, dry grinding, and the entire reducer will be scrapped.
2. How to check whether the gear oil is missing
Since there is no oil scale for checking the gear oil level on the travelling motor reducer, it is necessary to observe whether there is oil leakage after replacing the gear oil, and if necessary, solve the fault in time and add the gear oil. The gear oil of the excavator needs to be replaced every 2000 hours.
3. The replacement steps of walking gear box gear oil
1） Prepare the container for waste oil receiving.
2）Move motor DRAIN port 1 to the lowest position.
3） Slowly open oil DRAIN port 1 (DRAIN), oil LEVEL port 2 (LEVEL), and fuel filler port 3 (FILL) to allow oil to drain into the container.
4） After the gear oil is completely discharged, the internal sediment, metal particles and residual gear oil are washed with new gear oil, and the oil discharge cock is cleaned and installed with diesel oil.
5）Fill the specified gear oil from the hole of the oil level cock 3 and reach the specified amount.
6） Clean the oil level cock 2 and fuel cock 3 with diesel oil and then install them.
Note: In the above operation, the excavator must be turned off and checked the oil level in the cold state and replaced the waste oil. If metal chips or powder are found in the oil, please contact the local service personnel for on-site inspection.
